Dead skin cells are one of the main reasons why we get acne in general. But is there a difference with back acne? Yes and no! Dealing with facial acne can be discouraging because there is so much uncertainty around the healing process. If you have done extractions before, you’ll know how painful that process is. Some say, their back acne disappeared after deep cleansing. However, this may not be for everyone. For some, the issue could clog pores. If you have been experiencing back acne and want to treat it, you have landed on the right article. In this post, we will be discussing back acne treatment and other ways to treat it.

1

What Is Back Acne?

Back acne, or common known as ‘bacne’ is acne that appears on the upper and lower back. This could be caused by a myriad of factors. You will see blackheads, which are the oxidised form of whiteheads, and cysts.

Depending on the severity of your back acne, dermatologists often prescribe over the counter medicines or recommend them to use proper exfoliation skin care products.

However, for many, this is simply not powerful enough to stop it from coming back or even getting rid of the back acne scarring.

The Types of Back Acne

Back acne is very similar to facial acne, however, due to the larger surface area,it may look slightly different. Most people experience these four types:

1.Blackheads

Removing blackheads can be really painful as most of them are usually hardened. However, you can also expect it to be in liquid or pus form as it also depends on the size of the skin’s pores.

2.Whiteheads

Whiteheads are easy to spot, especially on fair skinned folks. The red inflamed acne is filled with a whitish or yellowish pus. Most of the time, these are not painful. However, we have heard some clients who have said that it can be itchy.

3.Papules

Papules are acne lesions that appear as small pink bumps on your skin and are sometimes tender. This type of acne has no pus and develops when a blocked hair follicle gets irritated.

4. Cysts

Cystic acne can be very painful. These tender lumps are the most severe form of back acne and usually would need a more intense back facial treatment. The reason why this is the most painful type of acne to experience is because the bacteria is trapped within the hair follicle.

Hence, this is why we always encourage people with a lot of back hair to come in for our A3 Laser Hair Removal treatment because the laser technology efficiently kills off hair follicles and reduces the chances for you to experience cystic acne.

3

Why does it form at the back?

There could be several reasons for this. In general, acne could be a result of genetics, lifestyle choices, stress levels, hormone levels and some environmental factors too. Sometimes, some people also get back acne because of hygiene.

All of us use at least one type of hair conditioner when we wash our hair. But did you know that it could cause a buildup of impurities? We always say it’s so important to change our pillow case, but some of us may not change the entire bed sheet, hence making it more prone for your skin at the back to develop acne.

There are so many types of back facials out there, but a high frequency treatment could solve your back acne issues, once for all!

Now that you know the different types of back acne, let's dive deeper to understand how back facials work and why it is important to do a deep cleanse back facial treatment! But first, we learn about at home treatments!

At Home Deep Cleansing Treatment Options

Could back acne be treated at home? Yes and no!

In general, if you have back acne that isn’t so severe, then yes it is very much a visible option to treat it at home. However, this is not the case for everyone who experiences back acne. For some, despite having back acne for years, they feel like it may not be serious. However, beauty is each to their own and we at Perfect Laser Clinics, strongly suggest that you take this seriously as it may not “disappear” by itself.

Here are some great ways to treat this at home:

1. Good quality skincare products

This is a very important part of healing your back acne if you do not opt for back acne facial treatments. Use a cleanser that is designed to medicate the acne. A benzoyl peroxide acne cleansing product will help to kill bacteria and reduce the inflammation. For best results, try to leave it on your skin for a couple of minutes and then wash it off. Even though the acne we experience on our face and back are almost the same, the skin texture is very different. Leaving the benzoyl peroxide wash on your back skin will help penetrate deeper as the skin is a lot thicker.

By now, everyone knows the power of retinoids in acne healing. Get a retinoid treatment from a registered pharmacist. Retinoid creams are also commonly known as adapalene gel. Be sure to have someone help you to apply them as it can be really hard to do this on your own.

Do not forget your moisturiser and SPF. These two products can really change the trajectory of your back acne healing journey. A moisturiser that contains hyaluronic acid will help reduce the inflammation as this type of acid is known to ward off acne, in general. As for SPF, use a minimum of SPF30+ for better protection and do not hesitate to reapply every few hours. The back skin is more vulnerable to sun damage as it is often ignored.

Remember, when you ignore these tiny things, it could result in acne formation.

2. Up your hygiene game

This is something you can start doing on your own as soon as you start seeing more pimples. Your pores pick up so much of the dead skin cells accumulated on your bed. Hence why the clogged pores cause more acne on the skin. Acne treatment is not just from one aspect. Ease tension by being mindful of the various factors that could be causing it.

3. Homemade masks for soothing

Putting on a mask after a massage sounds like heaven on earth and you should do that! There are various homemade facial masks that can really help for soothing. While it is important to acknowledge that these masks do not treat the inflamed acne, it can help in another way by soothing it. Gently massage the area and apply a mask. Do this at least once a week and you will see a world of difference.

4. Keep the acne area hair free

Most of our clients who have come to us for our Back Acne and Scar Treatment often always have back hair that is not removed. Of course, it does not mean that if you have back hair, you will get cystic acne. However, this simply means that you are at higher risk to get back acne, especially if you have rough and coarse body hair. Many folks have had to go in for office treatments because the ingrown hair got stuck and grew from pimple to cysts. Sweat and dirt will cause it to make it worse. So always remember, to wipe off excess sweat!

What Is a Back Facial Treatment?

So if you have severe back acne or just want to get rid of them permanently, you would know that skincare products and home remedies may not be the full answer.

Going for a back facial appointment can help with acne. Most back facials have a similar process, which involves, deep cleansing, extractions, a gentle massage which leaves your skin more moisturised and cleaner.

But there is a difference between normal facials and laser back facials for back acne. The only drawback from these normal facials is that there is no treatment for the acne not to recur again. Whereas, laser back facial treatments have the power of new technology to prevent it from happening again.

However, do note that if its genetics or poor lifestyle choices, it may come back again.

How Does Our Laser Back Facial Treatment Work?

This treatment is non-invasive and is pain free. Our therapist will use the U.S Silkpeel Vacuum Skin Rejuvenation + Medical-Grade Microdermabrasion technology to deep cleanse the skin at the back. This removes the impurities, oil and blackheads from pores.

The therapist will then combine the CPS skin rejuvenation method with microdermabrasion for it to dissolve and soften the excess skin on the surface. This is where our back facial treatment differs from other clinics. This powerful combination helps to promote skin renewal.

The next step is relaxing because our therapist will use a medical-grade essence that gives the skin important nutrition and moisture. These ampules are a great way to prevent the recurrence of acne.

The last part is using our latest state of the art C6 whitening laser technology, without damaging the skin, to remove both deep and superficial acne marks and scars. With this treatment, you don’t only heal the acne but also treat the scarring. Our technology will help to stimulate collagen regeneration, which will result in a smoother bac skin appearance .

2. Pain free back facial treatment

When you hear the word extractions, you know that it is really going to hurt. Most clinics still use sharp tools to extract the pus out. However, here, thanks to our laser technology, we are able to offer a pain free alternative, with outstanding advantages.

Do note that there are some risks you may face when you opt for a laser back facial. Always inform your therapist on the medications you are on or any medical conditions you have. Pregnant women are advised to not have this treatment.

FAQ

Why is my back acne reoccurring?

One of the reasons why this happens is because it is relatively hard to clean the back as these are harder to reach areas. The sebaceous glands on the back, on the other hand, are quite active. Sweating and tight clothing often contribute to this too. To effectively reduce the recurrence of back acne, thoroughly wash the skin at the back. Do not forget to change your towels and lines on a regular basis.
